About us:

At the Adult Acute Mental Inpatient Unit (AMHIU) we care for people over the age of 18 years who require inpatient care for treatment of mental health. The AMHIU is located on the Rockhampton Hospital campus and comprises of 20 Low Dependency beds and three High Dependency beds.

At the Older Persons Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit (OPMHIU), we provide acute care and management for older people (generally over 65) who have severe mental health disorders and require inpatient admission. The OPMHIU is located on the Rockhampton Hospital campus and comprises of eight beds.

About the role:

The Mental Health Inpatient Social Worker provides key interventions including psychosocial assessment, individual-family-carer-based interventions, group interventions and advocacy as well as provide a Social Work lens to the multidisciplinary team. Further, they demonstrate high standards of clinical care that are responsive to the consumers presenting issues and informed by existing evidence and guidelines.

About you:

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • A tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in Social Work as well as eligibility for full membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Status as an AASW accredited Mental Health Social Worker would be highly regarded.
  • The ability to demonstrate knowledge and skill in the provision of Mental Health, Alcohol, and other Drugs Social Work clinical services to clients of all ages across the continuum of care that includes inpatients and outpatients with limited clinical practice supervision.
  • The skill to set realistic work goals, establish work priorities and work autonomously to deliver timely and efficient routine Social Work services.
  • The ability to contribute to the development of procedures and protocols and participate in quality service improvement activities that promote a safe work environment, improve patient care & foster enhanced clinical outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills, providing clients, families and stakeholders with a professional and flexible service that meets their needs.

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $128,706 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary between $42.40 – $56.89 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
