ABOUT THE OFFICE

The Finance Office plays an integral role in the success of the University ensuring responsible stewardship through financial performance and strategic procurement, with a view to financial sustainability and growth. The Finance Office implements an operating model that enables a greater level of engagement across the University supporting the identification and prioritisation of initiatives that deliver operational efficiencies and provide reporting solutions that inform decision-making.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The University of Notre Dame Australia is looking for an experienced Finance Business Partners to join the team in Fremantle. The Finance Office plays an integral role in providing expert advise, guidance and support with respect to a full scope of financial matters.

Reporting into the Associate Director, Business Engagement, this position will operate with a significant degree of autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to leaders and staff of the Faculty/ Division through the provision of advice, guidance and support that is timely, valued, consistent and responsive.
  • Improve the University’s performance by providing senior leaders and stakeholders with contemporary financial management advice and solutions to support decision making. The advice will be based on building a strong understanding of the Faculty/Division and the priorities of that portfolio, as well as the
  • University Strategic and Operational goals.
  • Proactively identify financial management challenges and provide guidance to stakeholders to assist with their decision making and resolution.
  • Contribute to and implement a range of Finance projects, plans, tools, processes and systems to respond to future financial management challenges.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs, providing financial analysis of monthly results and business performance.
  • Provide comprehensive advice to senior leaders and stakeholders, within the Faculty/Division to achieve the viability and best return on investment for programs and initiatives, to deliver on business University objectives.
  • Partner with the Faculty/Division to develop their individual budget and forecast as part of the wider University budget and forecast process.
  • Facilitate training and development programs to enhance financial literacy across the University.
  • Other duties, including providing ad-hoc financial modelling and analytic support, and assisting the Financial Reporting Team’s year end and audit processes, as identified by the Manager, Commercial Finance.

YOUR ROLE

  • CA/CPA level qualification with substantial relevant experience
  • Significant experience in a complex organisation providing financial reporting, budgeting and modelling and partnering with the business to improve financial performance
  • Proven ability to find innovative solutions to improve financial performance of organisations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and proven experience building collaborative and trusted relationships to achieve effective business partnering and stakeholder management
  • High level of knowledge in financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting to support decision making and effective financial management
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and implement continuous improvements to deliver service excellence and quality outcomes
  • High-level accountancy, numeracy and reconciliation skills, with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with figures
  • Excellent conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems and business requirements
