Job description: About the role:The VPS4 Project Officer position sits within the Operations Division of the Family Violence Command (FVC). The Operations Divisions provides support to the Command by:

\
  • Providing strategic advice on the policing of family violence, sexual assault and child abuse.
  • Providing a systemic understanding of issues, trends and whole of government reform impacting the family violence, sexual offences, and child abuses services.
  • Working collaboratively with Family Violence Investigation Units and Sexual Offence and Child Investigation Teams and key internal stakeholders to improve operational responses.

The VPS4 Project Officer position will report to the VPS6 Manager, Project Delivery. As the Project Officer within the Project Delivery team, you will be required to provide high level project support to members of the Project Delivery team and across FVC. You will be required to prepare project products, reports, briefing notes and correspondence as well as analyse, problem solve and consult with a broad range of stakeholders on a variety of matters relating to family violence, sexual assault and child abuse. Key external stakeholders relevant to the role include:

  • Family Safety Victoria and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH)
  • Department of Justice & Community Safety
  • Magistrates’ Court of Victoria; and
  • Family Violence and Sexual Assault support services.

  • Supporting with the preparation of a range of project and policy materials and reports (e.g., project plans, schedules of work, project status reports, governance frameworks, briefing notes, development of presentations, proposals, minutes and correspondence)
  • Supporting with scoping and planning the sequencing of projects and activities to enable effective implementation.
  • Consultation with internal and external stakeholders to implement new initiatives.
  • Prepare authoritative advice to FVC Executive to inform complex policy decisions and relating to project delivery approaches.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a project or policy setting and proven history of producing high quality work
  • Good organisational skills demonstrating attention to detail and ability to multi-task and prioritise while adhering to strict timelines.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in an effective and mature manner with a diverse range of personnel and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work with limited supervision and/or within a team environment.
  • Well-developed written communication skills.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
