The Director of Y Academy oversees all programs and services related to early childhood education at the assigned center. Responsibilities include administration of programs, managing state and local license requirements and supervision of all part time and full-time staff in the program.   • Oversee the daily operations of the preschool center, ensuring compliance with state licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and organizational policies.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate educational programs and activities that foster the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of children.
  • Maintain accreditation standards and lead quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate on communications regarding enrollment of youth with families in conjunction with our external customer support team (YESS)
  • Children’s files are completed in accordance with state licensing guidelines
  • YMCA standards and guidelines are followed
  • Be available for staff and families and keep positive open lines of communication
  • Oversee regular communication to families
  • Implement appropriate age curricula aligned with state standards.
  • Build positive relationships with families and ensure parents receive regular updates on development from teaching staff
  • Promote YMCA Mission to staff and families
  • Incorporate Value Statement into all aspects of program
  • Maintain a professional image in the YMCA and Denver Public School community
  • Hire, train and evaluate teaching and support staff
  • Manage all staff and verify certifications, time and attendance
  • Provide leadership and professional development opportunities to maintain staff qualifications
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that supports growth and accountability
  • Prepare and manage budget, ensuring financial stability and sustainability
  • Maintain accurate financial and operational records for audits and reporting purposes.

  • College degree preferred
  • Must meet state licensing requirements for center director
  • Demonstrated computer knowledge and efficient data entry skills
  • Able to analyze and problem solve and work independently
  • Ability to address demanding situations and conflicts in a professional and courteous manner
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to connect with diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic levels
  • If not CPR/AED and First Aid certified, must achieve within 30-days
