Job description: In collaboration with the Tucson Hebrew Academy (THA), the school counselor will offer comprehensive counseling support and educational services to students, families, and educators.Additionally, the counselor will lead the DO ONE MORE THING initiative in partnership with Jewish Philanthropies of Southern Arizona and Congregation Anshei Israel. Through this initiative, the counselor provides essential mental health services to pre-teens and teens in the community.The DO ONE MORE THING initiative is named in honor of the late Rabbi Arthur R. Oleisky (z”l) who served as the Rabbi of Congregation Anshei Israel in Tucson, Arizona for over 28 years. Rabbi Oleisky passed away in October 2021 and was a strong advocate for enhanced pre-teen and teen Jewish programing and engagement. In his retirement, Rabbi Oleisky was deeply concerned about the societal pressures faced by today’s pre-teen and teen populations.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESTucson Hebrew Academy
- Perform full cycle of therapeutic services at THA including but not limited to facilitating groups, providing counseling to students and families, and crisis intervention.
- Develop lesson plans based on a psychosocial curriculum and teach lesson plans with each school grade on a weekly basis. The frequency of developing and implementing lesson plans may be increased in remote-learning situations.
- Meet treatment standards, agency and school protocols in terms of timeliness of service, number and duration of services provided, and timeliness of paperwork and reporting completion.
- Adhere to agency and school protocols, contract requirements, and professional standards regarding time sheets, monthly statistics, and other record keeping.
- Complete and maintain entries into electronic medical record system as needed.
- Gather data as required by external funding sources.
- Maintain case records according to agency and school protocols and provides to clinical supervisor for reporting requirements.
- Refer clients to other resources when indicated.
- Collaborate and consult with other staff members, both THA and JFCS as needed, and participate in supervision on therapeutic practices and case presentation.

- To honor Rabbi Oleiskly’s legacy and memory by advocating for youth and young adult education
- To support Tucson’s pre-teens and teens (ages 10-18) as they navigate their world (identities, themselves, place in the world, etc.) through spaces and programs supporting and strengthening mental health and identity.
- To bring two best-in-class, data tested programs from the national Jewish community to Tucson:
- The Teen Mental Health Front & Center Program from the Jewish Education Project in New York City, facilitated to be a peer-to-peer community using social media to connect teens and identify teens who are experiencing mental health issues, and elevate those issues to a mental health professional
- Youth Mental Health First Aid, a training and certification program for Jewish communal youth professionals from the Jewish Education Project in New York City
WORK HOURS, SCHEDULE & FLEXIBILITYThis position often works weekdays, however there may be some evening or weekend events that will require your attendance in order to best represent the agency and school. Some flexibility in scheduling exists, as long as the agency and school needs are being adequately addressed.COMMUNICATION AND INTERFACE

REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Counseling, or related behavioral health field
- Working knowledge of community resources
- Strong written, verbal, presentation and communication skills
- Positive attitude, proactive mentality, responsive, and strong work ethic
- Follow established procedures while being creative and taking initiative
- Must be willing to accept feedback, and respond in professional manner
- Familiarity and/or knowledge of Judaism and Jewish culture
Ability to obtain fingerprint clearance and pass a background check
Expected salary: $55000 – 65000 per year
