THE OPPORTUNITY

We have several available positions for Treatment Technicians within Council’s Water Supply and Sewerage system, strategically located in both Dubbo and Wellington.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals possessing experience in treatment plant operations or practical expertise in industrial processes. As a Treatment Technician, you will play a pivotal role in contributing to the community by actively participating in the operation of treatment plants, managing associated reservoirs, booster stations and sewer pumping stations. Your primary objective will be to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality drinking water and compliance with relevant legislation for wastewater management. DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the development of chemical testing for Water/Sewage treatment schedules to ensure optimum performance of the treatment plants
  • Testing of Water/Sewage Chemical characteristics to meet relevant industry standards and licence guidelines
  • Maintain accurate and current computer databases and schedules related to the production, testing
  • Assist in the Operation of the Treatment plant(s) so that the plants are operated in an efficient and effective manner ensuring effluent quality meets the requirements of the relevant authorities and respective plant licenses
  • Optimise treatment chemical usage and energy consumption through best practice procedures

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking candidates with a proven track record of hands-on experience in the operation of industrial processes, including proficiency with supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA/telemetry). Your expertise will be important to our team as we manage Council’s Water Supply and Sewerage system in a diverse multi-functional regional setting.

Your excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset make you a valuable team player, always eager to contribute positively to the team culture. Demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement, you embrace ongoing learning opportunities. As part of this commitment, you are prepared to take on the challenge of obtaining a Certificate III in Water Operations (if required) within the first two years of employment. TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

  • Certificate III in Water Operations (Treatment) or ability to obtain within 2 years of employment in the position
  • Demonstrated experience working in the water industry in particular treating water and waste water
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • General administrative skills demonstrating a competent level of literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills
  • Experience in the operation of supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA)/telemetry)
