Job description: Our Development Assessment and Compliance team is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Town Planner to assist with the development application process managed by the Unit.
This is a permanent full-time role, working a 9 day fortnight, and offering flexibility for a great work/life balance.
About the role:
- process development applications and related matters in accordance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act
- prepare LEP amendments, policies, Development Control Plans and other aspects of strategic planning
- respond to written and verbal enquiries
- manage the Development Assessment process including recommending the application for approval/refusal and associated follow up processes
- provide excellent customer service to our stakeholders, providing advice on environmental planning instruments and policy matters

We are seeking:
- degree or post graduate Town Planning qualification
- competence and experience in the assessment of development applications within a local government framework
- understanding of the assessment of development applications
- excellent communication skills
- the ability to prioritise and handle conflicting deadlines

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
