Job description: Our client in the Financial industry is currently looking for a Tax Compliance Officer, in Port Elizabeth.

Responsibilities:
- Generate Provisional Tax Return list from GreatSoft for designated clients.
- Coordinate with relevant Directors in advance for necessary notes on lists.
- Assist in calculating provisional tax estimates when required.
- Generate provisional tax letters via eDocs and send to clients upon finalization of lists.
- Submit all Provisional Tax Returns via GreatSoft within deadlines upon receiving signed letters from clients.
- Complete Income Tax returns based on financial statements from Audit and Bookkeeping Departments.
- Complete Income Tax Returns using client-provided information if no financial statements are prepared by other departments.
- Attach necessary documentary proof to completed Income Tax returns to prevent queries and revised assessments from SARS.
- Forward completed Tax returns to PAs for client signature and lodge returns with SARS promptly.
- Address queries from SARS regarding completed Income Tax returns under relevant Director’s discretion.
- Monitor timely submission of returns for relevant Directors.
- Apply for clients’ registration on eFiling with SARS if required.
- Prepare statements of assets and liabilities, capital reconciliations, and tax computations.
- Calculate third and additional top-up payments as necessary.
- Ensure completion of verifications or audits.
- Follow up on payments and refunds due to designated clients.
- Send payment and refund letters to clients promptly via GreatSoft.
- Check Assessments against original tax calculations for discrepancies.
- Inform Tax Manager of discrepancies for possible objections.
- Identify and communicate additional assessments to Tax Manager for review and potential objection.
- Control general administration related to eFiling, GreatSoft, and eDocs.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as required.
- Request SARS to remit various penalties for different entities and tax types.
- Apply for various tax directives.
- Ensure compliance with the firm’s System of Quality Management, policies, and procedures.
- Adhere to the firm’s Employee Code of Conduct, including HR policies and professional codes of conduct.
Requirements:
- Matriculation with a focus on Accountancy.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience in completing Income Tax returns is essential.
- Technical knowledge related to South African Income Tax.
- Consistently demonstrate accurate completion of Income Tax Returns.
- Effective organization skills including time management, planning, administration, and reporting.
- Client-focused approach, both internal and external, with the ability to respond to client needs.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Numerical accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or similar office suites like Open Office and Lotus.
- Familiarity with Tax Planner software.
- Experience with Professional Series software, such as Accfin, is preferred.
Remuneration:
- R25 000 – R32 000 CTC per month.
Expected salary: R25000 – 32000 per month
