What You Will Do:

As a Supply Chain Planning Engineer, you will provide leadership in strategic sourcing for Undercarriage Track Facilities and Suppliers worldwide. Your primary responsibility will be collaborating with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Machine Division Customers to establish capacity needs, execute statistical analysis of product demand, and provide insights into current state capabilities and future needs.   • Lead cross-functional projects focused on supplier capacity, agility, and associated supply chain concepts.
  • Manage Undercarriage Enterprise Component Capacity Program (ECCP) process for long term capacity planning across all Track Facilities globally.
  • Work and communicate effectively with diverse, multi-functional teams to apply the capacity planning and strategic sourcing processes.
  • Take an enterprise-wide view of supply chain and capacity planning processes and tools, as well as leverage a thorough knowledge of manufacturing and agility to coordinate the efforts of multiple teams across functions and divisions.
  • Lead team efforts to gather and analyze data on value stream/product family level to define capacity and agility requirements for each supplier based on statistical modeling and product insights.
  • Lead work team consisting of members from multiple functions, driving collaboration and communication across divisions, including Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, product group personnel, and global supply chain members.
  • Support efforts to ensure New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering/Change Control impacts are considered in strategic sourcing.
  • Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

What You Have:

  • Core Application Systems: Knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery of services to internal and external clients; ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations. Helps create contingency plans to mitigate impact of disruption on core applications. Identifies key players, criticalities, roles, and responsibilities. Investigates application-related issues with both business and IT professionals. Recommends enhancements for a major application system or related subsystems. Works with core application systems for a major business unit or function.
  • Project Administration: Knowledge of project administration best practices and ability to use organizational strategies, practices, and tools for administering projects. Explains concepts of phase, activity, and task. Provides examples of project data that is tracked. Identifies deliverables, resources, and dependencies in project plans. Demonstrates a basic understanding of organizational project management practices and tools.
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Knowledge of established standard operating procedures (SOP); ability to design, implement and evaluate standard operating procedures affecting daily and strategic business operations in order to increase operational efficiency. Compiles current research relevant to standard operating procedures. Explains usage of standard operating procedures in business operations. Describes main issues and considerations when using standard operating procedures. Identifies key features and functions of standard operating procedures.
  • Vendor/Supplier Management: Knowledge of external provider management processes and ability to effectively manage the business relationship with external providers (e.g. vendors, service providers, contractors, consultants, and suppliers). Describes how to access organization’s policies and processes for using external resources. Identifies the roles and responsibilities of own and vendor or supplier’s staff. Cites examples of different partnering arrangements. List types of vendors, partners or suppliers used in the organization.
  • Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of strategies and tools for controlling and optimizing the factors that lie between the purchase of raw materials, components and supplies, and delivery of finished products. Works with a specific part of supply chain management process. Describes applications and technologies used to manage supply chain. Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities. Interprets walk-throughs of the consumption stream and associated provision stream. Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.
  • Vendor/Supplier Evaluations & Certification: Knowledge of vendor/supplier evaluations and certification; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices, and tools for evaluating, selecting and certifying vendors, suppliers and partners. Obtains vendor or supplier product or service information. Contacts references for vendors and suppliers; records the resulting information. Searches for vendors or suppliers that match given criteria. Reviews and documents products or services using specific steps. Participates in selecting, evaluating, and certifying a specific vendor/supplier and product/service.
  • The ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
