Get to Know the Opportunity:
The Strategic Sourcing intern will join a team of negotiators who are responsible for negotiating directly with Voya’s technology suppliers to acquire software, SaaS, hardware, and related services to maximize value and minimize risk to Voya. This is an ‘indirect sourcing’ position which means that we are acquiring goods/services to help run Voya’s business and not for the acquisition of raw materials, components, or other goods for direct sales to customers which is considered ‘direct sourcing’ or ‘supply chain management’. Please Note: This position has been designated as remote.
The Contributions You’ll Make:
- Learn the fundamentals of business-to-business negotiations and commercial contracting;
- Gain direct experience with the full end-to-end sourcing process from inception of a project to execution of the contract;
- Gain insights into the different negotiation and contracting approaches across multiple commodities including software, SaaS, public cloud (AWS, Azure, etc), hardware, telecommunications, and IT services;
- Learn the importance of staying closely aligned with our internal customers and collaborating with key matrix partners in Information Security, Legal, Privacy, Risk, and Enterprise Architecture;
- Gain an appreciation for the complexity and creativity of technology licensing negotiations and how our department strives to be on the cutting edge of strategic negotiations using a series of best practices and innovative contract templates;
- Learn to use corporate technologies such as our contracts repository, intake management, e-signature platform, and other key tools;
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Knowledge & Experience:
- Open to all majors
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate by instant messaging, video calls, and email
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency while balancing several complex projects
- Possess an extraordinary attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills
- An interest in contracts drafting and interpretation

Compensation Pay Disclosure:
Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.
The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
