Job description: Cox Automotive’s delivery stream group, Inventory Management (IM I5) is adding an experienced Sr . Software Manager to our lead the vAuto platform engineering team in Austin , TX .

About vAuto

The vAuto teams within IM I5 are responsible for overseeing the strategy, execution, governance, and management multiple products covering Sourcing, Pricing, Merchandising, Delivery and Disposition Workflows in the automotive wholesale and retail space. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading, growing, and developing a team of innovative Software Engineers in designing, implementing, and delivering high-quality software products. To be successful in this role, you must be able to lead effectively in a fluid, fast-paced agile environment. This position requires strong technical, design, communication, and collaboration skills. We have aggressive goals over the next couple of years and are looking for candidates with a passion for building resilient technology platforms and a can-do attitude!

Your Role

  • Leads a team to provide high-quality, maintainable software that meets business and technology needs.
  • Must be able to influence other software and IT managers to design and build solutions that meet our needs.
  • Manage career progression for team members, including hiring, performance reviews, salary decisions, mentoring, coaching, and all duties normally associated with a hiring manager.
  • Represent your team in strategy and planning meetings.
  • Work with your team to plan, design, implement and operationalize innovations and improvements to existing programs.
  • Work with your team to continually improve their processes and develop best practices for agile development that delivers value to our stakeholders.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and taking responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution.
  • Stay current with changes in the technical area of expertise.
  • Share knowledge by effectively documenting plans, decisions, and task ownership.
  • Experience working with offshore contractors and utilizing offshore flex capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering or System Engineer.
  • 5+ years supporting a SaaS based product.
  • 5+ years in managing direct reports preferably Software Engineers, DevOps, or SRE.
  • 5+ years of experience architecting large distributed software solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience designing continuous delivery strategies for SaaS applications.
  • 3+ years of experience in AWS Cloud infrastructure.
  • Very strong business analysis, system analysis, or product analysis skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent planning and prioritization skills with the ability to multitask and adapt to change.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Experience using DevOps tools and automation framework
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience with DevOps techniques building continuous integration solutions using latest tools & technologies like AWS, Docker, Git, etc
  • Knowledge on below technologies & stack is plus
  • AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, SQS, ECS, etc.)
  • Infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, Terraform)
  • CI/CD pipeline
  • ElasticSearch
  • Caching technologies (Memcache/Redis)

  • Splunk

  • Ability to lead a team to turn high-level requirements into a working system through iterative development.
