Are you looking for an opportunity to lead a global technical safety organization? One focused on reduction of High-Risk Operations (HRO) and other safety risks for the hard-working technicians and engineers who keep Amazon’s millions of facilities and process equipment assets safely up and running for our customers? The Sr. Manager, Global RME WHS will have primary responsibility to provide direct partnership and risk program management responsibilities for the Global Reliability, Maintenance & Engineering (RME) organization. This role will lead a diverse and talented team who provides dedicated safety support to RME in all business units globally.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop deep working partnerships with execution teams based in RME, WHS, Procurement, Ops Engineering, Research & Design, Risk, Loss Prevention, and Legal.
  • Lead a team of direct global Sr. WHS RME safety professionals in both central program management and field execution.
  • In partnership with RME senior leadership, develop forward strategies to reduce Global RME’s safety risk profile to an acceptable level of risk.
  • Be responsible for establishing field WHS headcount ratios with RME to ensure safety resources are properly allocated for future expansion of NA RME.
  • Provide Sr. RME leadership with critical risk decision making to ensure the life safety of Technicians, contractors and Amazon associates.
  • Be accountable for the field execution of high-risk programs such as Hazardous Energy Control, Electrical Safety, Fall Hazard Control, Confined Spaces, Hot Work, Fire Life Safety, Hosting & Rigging, etc.
  • Drive improvements in RME safety metrics to ensure RME leaders both at the site level and network level have better visibility to drive improvements.
  • Continue to make safety personal and drive ownership of safety through the RME organization by establishing better engagement programs.
  • Deliver new global RME safety training programs.
  • Ensure the continuous improvement of core RME safety programs including Technician Safety Concerns, RME Safety Network Actions (RSNA), regulatory compliance, and Global Technician Safety Week.
  • Support the WW WHS Compliance and Governance team in audit expectations and procedure clarifications related to RME Safety programs.
  • Build on success in NA and Europe to build new Pre-Task Safety Plan (PTP) & Permit-to-Work (PTW) electronic tools globally for all technicians to perform Dynamic Risk Assessments in real time.
  • Stay attuned to changing regulations and internal EHS performance to change policies when required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 10+ years of team management experience
– • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational, Health and Safety (OSH), Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), finance or procurement related fields, or other related fields from an accredited university
– • Must possess a minimum of 10+ years’ work experience in OSH, EHS, finance or procurement, contractor management, contractor safety, or providing direct oversight for 3rd party services/contractors.
– • Experience as a People Leader, who has had success in developing, promoting, or managing direct reports

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
– • Development or execution of high risk safety programs related to maintenance, contractors or construction management.
– • Master’s degree preferred
– • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to influence and partner with all levels of the organization and outside contacts
– • Technical or Procedure Writing skills • Working knowledge of OSHA 1910 CFR, OSHA 1926 CFR, ANSI, NFPA, ISO, etc.
– • Have or working towards a PE, ASP, CSP or other recognized professional certification • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certified
– • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
– • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $225,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
