The drive from Sydney to Cooma is a little over four hours, from Canberra it’s about 80 mins and from the pristine beaches and tourist towns of the Sapphire Coast it’s 70 mins. You can fly into Snowy Mountains Airport and hire a car and explore the High Country. Cooma has a range of accommodation including motels, hotels, farm stays, cottages and caravan parks.

What you’ll be doing

Provide evidence based clinical care to patients within your scope of practice and regularly manage patients with more complex treatment needs at oral health facilities across the local health district.

  • Dental qualification eligible for registration as a dentist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrate highly advanced skills in managing difficult clinical situations and a proven record of carrying out a broad range of advanced and complex dental procedures.
  • A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a preventative/population health approach to patient care.
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality and abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct in line with prescribed NSW Health policies and procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively and sensitively with a wide range of individuals.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer systems including electronic patient records and digital imaging.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. This may involve driving long distances within the Health Service. Evidence of a current Class C drivers licence.

Applicants must have completed the COVID-19 vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

ASARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) 3 doses are required for Category A positions (refer to NSW Policy Directive PD2022_030 Occupational Assessment Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate.
