What you’ll be doing:

The Senior Speech Pathologist provides pre and post operative care to Ear Nose & Throat patients receiving surgical interventions that impact swallowing and communication (e.g. complex airways, head & neck cancers and laryngectomy). You will be working in a Multidisciplinary Team with regards to delivery of speech pathology services to patients who have undergone a broad range of ENT surgeries including head and neck surgical treatments. May include the management of laryngectomy patients from pre-operative through to outpatients as required.

In this position, you may also be assigned Supervision duties of Level 1/2 Speech Pathologists and Students in related clinical areas.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection Criteria to be Addressed: * Degree or Diploma in Speech Pathology with eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia

  • Extensive experience in laryngectomy management (acute and chronic) including voice prosthesis and stoma equipment, prescription, placement and management
  • Experience in dysphagia and tracheostomy management in the laryngectomy and H&N surgical population including use of videofluoroscopy specific to these patients.
  • Extensive clinical experience with assessment and management of adult patients with swallowing and voice disorders resulting from ENT related conditions unrelated to H&N, including the use of instrumental assessments such as VFSS ,FEES, voice assessment under nasendoscopy and stroboscopy.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a busy multi-disciplinary clinic and providing education to staff.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and teaching skills including well developed skills in the provision of clinical supervision to speech pathologists and students
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and in providing supervision in a high risk caseload.
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence
