Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a Senior Software developer to support our efforts to maintain and enhance the Automated Support Package (ASP) for the DOL DCMWC Black Lung program. In this role you will research design, develop, test and/or modify application software.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all phases of the software development lifecycle
  • Analyzes user/business needs and functionality to plan and design software systems to meet those needs.
  • Performs software updates, refinement, testing, and debugging to meet business needs
  • Generates data for reports and audit requests based on project specifications
  • Thoroughly documents the software or system for future maintenance and updates
  • Creates models and diagrams as needed
  • May serve as a team or task lead

EDUCATION

  • BS or equivalent with a concentration in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of developing IT systems
  • Prior experience developing GUI interfaces and/or web interfaces
  • Experience with relational databases, preferably DB2 and/or, SQL Server, Oracle, Postgre SQL
  • Experience with scripting languages
  • Experience with source code management tools

PREFERRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Delphi, Java, C++, or other OOP Languages
  • DB2 UDB, SQL Server, Oracle, Postgre SQL
  • GitLab, CVS etc.
  • Unix, Linux
  • PERL, Python

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with a small team as well as interact regularly with government and non-government stakeholders at multiple levels of authority
  • Handle demanding situations with clarity, focus and professionalism, and to respond to quick turnaround tasks
  • Resolve issues with little oversight; ability to gather and analyze information skillfully and develop alternative solutions
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex topics to management and other stakeholders

CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS:

This is a 100% telework position.

The likely salary range for this position is $72,000 – $108,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
