Job description: About the role
In this position, you’ll collaborate with various City departments and business partners to develop innovative solutions for placemaking and place innovation. Your focus will be on ensuring that projects are well-coordinated and aligned with the goals outlined in the Geelong Smart City Framework and Implementation Plan
Work type: Temporary, full-time (12-month)
Classification: Band 8 ($115,035 – $127,911)
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with internal departments and the community to understand needs and propose opportunities to utilise technology and data to enhance City services, including researching, evaluating, and recommending potential solutions.
- Serving as the primary resource to help departments ensure that place innovation projects comply with best practice and are designed and implemented to meet needs and the goals of the City.
- Managing the development and delivery of assigned projects including overseeing communication, risks management, issues management, costs, budget, procurement, go-live and quality.
- Establishing and supporting relationships with relevant partners and networks across a wide range of disciplines and technology sector businesses, to create a collaborative environment both internally and externally to facilitate delivery of projects and programs of work.
- Maintaining a high level of education and awareness of developments in technology and data used across the built and natural environment, including advancements in place innovation.
- Identifying, pursuing, and preparing funding applications for place innovation projects.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have at least 2 years’ experience managing multiple smart technology and data production operations and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.
Essential Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business or Public Administration (desirable).
- Proven track record in successfully managing technology-based projects, such as CCTV systems, public WiFi networks, optical fiber infrastructure, and smart sensor deployments, from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and stakeholder needs
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, working with complex and/or challenging internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to demonstrate strong participatory and stakeholder engagement skills to work with others to solve problems collaboratively.
- High level communication skills with the ability to convey and impart project information within an easily understandable format.
Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to guide, oversee and motivate others and hold them to account to achieve agreed objectives.
