QAEHS’ Australian Environmental Specimen Bank (AESB) aims to deliver a national sample collection of environmental and human samples enabling multidisciplinary, longitudinal and cross-sectional studies to understand exposure pathways and assess short- and long-term chemical and biological hazard exposures. In turn, this will benefit Australian government through delivery of robust scientific evidence for policy making to protect environmental and human health.

As the Senior Project Officer, you will be responsible for establishing the AESB through set-up of processes and systems to develop a high functioning sample bank management system that enables easy access to the samples for research purposes that can accommodate the complexities and challenges of the future. You will coordinate and support a wide range of activities to achieve project outcomes and objectives, including streamlining existing practices and processes, identifying and implementing efficiencies, engaging with stakeholders, reporting progress, arranging agreements, contributing to governance development, and overseeing maintenance tasks. This role requires a person capable of delivering outcomes within a multi-dimensional, fast-paced and challenging operational environment.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Coordinating aspects of the project-delivery cycle, including planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation to support the successful completion of the project.

Providing project and administrative support, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones and deliverables.

Providing a range of secretariat and administrative services, including coordinating project-relevant meetings, activities and engagements.

Exercising diplomacy and judgement when liaising with a range of key stakeholders, including (but not limited to) senior academic and professional staff, representatives of peak government and non-government bodies and industry partners.

Coordinating aspects of the project budget as needed.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months at HEW level 6.

At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,099 – $94,512, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.
