What’s on offer?
Permanent Full-time or Part-time, hours negotiable + Fixed Term Temporary Full-time or Part-time up to two (2) years, hours negotiable.
Pro rata remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value of up to $497,611 p.a. comprising salary range of $176,802 – $258,910 p.a. (full-time) or $84.71 – $124.05 p.h. (part-time) (L13-L27), recreational leave loading (17.5%), and employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%). Level of appointment is dependent upon experience and advanced qualifications.
- Attraction and retention incentive allowance (35% base salary)
- Regional and rural attraction allowance (5% base salary)
- Motor vehicle allowance between $21,000 and $25,500 p.a.
- Professional development allowance of $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leave
- Inaccessibility allowance of $13,800 p.a.

About the role
The role of the Senior Medical Officer – Rural Generalist involves provision of emergency and inpatient medical services for Charters Towers Hospital: in-patient (acute and long-stay), outpatient and emergency. Telehealth services reduce the need for patient travel. The local multi-disciplinary team is supplemented by visiting specialist medical, dental, nursing, and allied health services from Townsville Hospital and Health Service, Non-Government Organisations and Private Providers. Non-clinical duties include quality activities, mandatory training, supervising, teaching and research.
Role requirements
Qualified as a medical practitioner, qualifications in speciality areas and current registration and/or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Highly desirable
Fellowship of either the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).
