As the successful applicant, you will report directly to the Officer in Charge of the Centre for Road Policing Investigation (CfRPI). The work unit is situated within the Specialist Programs Division of People Development Command and is primarily responsible for the delivery of approved road policing education and training to Victoria Police staff. The Centre uses contemporary training programs incorporating adult learning principles.

CfRPI delivers into the Foundation (Recruit) syllabus, in addition to providing training for specialist road policing roles and general duties employees. This includes the Road Policing Investigator Course and Safe Vehicle Inspection Course. This training supports the Victoria Police Road Safety Strategy, Keeping You Safe Strategy and Annual Plan priority of reducing road trauma.

You will be required to instruct and assess students in the relevant components at the Foundation Training (FT) levels of both recruit (pre-graduation) and Taking Charge courses (post-graduation). Instruction into the advanced levels of the Road Policing Investigator’s Course (RPIC) and Safe Vehicle Inspection Course (SVIC) are additional core function requirements. The majority of training is delivered face to face in a classroom environment at the Victoria Police Academy with occasional offsite facilitation in both metropolitan and regional Victoria. An occasional overnight stay is required.

Key stakeholders are other centres of learning within People Development Command and more broadly Road Policing Command.

Your duties will include:

  • Classroom delivery of road policing legislation and Victoria Police Policy.
  • Role-playing, facilitating, practical exercises and assessments.
  • Maintaining accurate records, provide feedback and remedial training.
  • Intervention and reporting of student conduct and welfare issues.
  • Participate in professional development and training as required.
  • Administration and co-ordination of training programs.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Experience in formal training environments.
  • Experience in road policing and, or collision investigation.
  • Ability to contextualise road policing legislation for the benefit of students.
  • An understanding of and commitment to maintaining professional boundaries with students.
  • High level of maturity and self-awareness.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available and one (1) x part-time ongoing position (0.8FTE).
  • If the position is part time, the salary plus superannuation will be pro rata.
  • These positions are located at Victoria Police Academy, Glen Waverley.
