Working tactically and proactively to tell compelling Deakin stories, with a special focus on supporting Deakin’s Research and Innovation Portfolio.The role will partner with senior internal and external stakeholders to develop, deliver and evaluate a communications program to increase awareness, engagement, and visibility of Deakin research and innovation. The role will create engaging content for various channels that helps build a consistent and aligned narrative.The role is part of the Media and Corporate Affairs team embedded within University Communications, part of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.As a Senior Coordinator, Communications you will:
- Plan, write and edit content to support the successful delivery of communications projects, in partnership with a wide range of internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Proactively build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide an end-to-end communication partnering service and develop the required content to bring plans to life.
- Provide advice and support to staff across the University and to external stakeholders on communications matters and positioning.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of a proactive-focused media and corporate affairs strategy.
- Through a high degree of organisational and industry knowledge, provide sensitive, judicious communications and stakeholder engagement advice.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Undergraduate or postgraduate qualification and extensive experience; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training within the communications field.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- A proven ability to thrive in a high-level, detail-focused, fast-paced communications environment.
- Experience with communication tools and applications for the purpose of monitoring news and communicating the Deakin story.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, and navigating short, competing, and changing deadlines.
- Ability to think laterally, strategically, and opportunistically; navigate complexity and communicate with influence with a range of internal and external clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively with and beyond the team environment, demonstrating emotional intelligence and capacity to build networks, consult and seek advice, with a positive, solutions-focused attitude.
