  • Salary commencing at $94,996 per annum (pro rata) plus 11% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.
  • Monthly RDO available.
  • After hours or weekend work may be required.

The Opportunity

As the lead publications specialist in Council’s Communications team, this position will see you responsible for managing the development, production and copywriting for Council’s suite of news publications, across a variety of digital and traditional mediums. Reporting to the Team Leader Media & Strategic Communications, you will work closely with communications colleagues to develop and implement strategic communications plans to promote Council services, activities, events and decisions..

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, proactive and reactive communications and media services and products across a range of traditional and new media.
  • Use political acumen to provide strategic communications advice to internal stakeholders at all levels including Councillors and senior management.
  • Proactively and positively communicate Council’s achievements, services, events and activities.
  • Manage the end-to-end production of Council’s regular print and digital publications.
  • Perform other public relations or communications functions as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, media studies, marketing, journalism, or other relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in a communications role, including developing communications plans, briefing designers, and producing and writing content for use across all mediums.
  • Proven experience in overseeing large-scale print and digital publication development and production timelines.
  • Experience in developing and implementing large and/or complex communications strategies and plans across a variety of mediums.
