The City of Tacoma is seeking a SAP Division Manager to join the City’s Information Technology Department. The Division Manager reports directly to the IT Chief Automation Officer and is responsible for the strategic planning, budgeting, implementation, and operation of a robust portfolio of systems with core responsibilities surrounding SAP and systems tightly integrated with SAP. The primary mission of this position is to ensure our ongoing success as the City embarks upon an S/4 HANA migration and a general shift to cloud platform strategies across most major enterprise business systems. The city has a large SAP footprint, and this position manages several other large enterprise-wide systems. Within SAP itself, this position manages 42 integrated functions across Finance, HR, Work and Asset Management, Utilities, and ABAP as well as integration with over 150 interfaces into and out of SAP.
We are searching for a leader and proven business manager with both strong SAP and business experience who can deliver sustainable processes and solutions that support business needs. Soft skills and emotional intelligence will be critical as this position leads a team of about 36 employees with 4 to 5 direct reports and partners with over 18 distinct departments within the city to deliver projects.

Major Current and Near-Term Initiatives:

  • SAP ECC Suite on HANA migration to S/4HANA RISE on AWS
  • SAP Service Cloud
  • SAP Process Integration (PI) to Business Technology Platform (BTP) implementation
  • Adaptive Insights implementation for budget management
  • Accela related permits and data enablement
  • IFS mobile solution upgrade
  • Procurement and HR related assessments and follow-on transformations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in enterprise governance
  • Acquire a strong knowledge of business operations and needs
  • Collaborate and establish relationships with all stakeholders involved in delivering projects and maintaining systems
  • Ensure best practice delivery and ongoing support of systems
  • Establish and present at all levels on roadmaps, resourcing, and budget
  • Evolve metrics for products and features for performance, value, and reliability
  • Successful delivery of projects
  • Negotiate and prepare contracts
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships
  • Development, mentoring, and training of staff
  • Ensure financial health and accountability of the team

Qualifications

Minimum Education*
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or directly related field

Minimum Experience*
7 years of progressively responsible information technology experience in area of assignment including 2 years prior as supervisor or manager in information technology. Some assignments may require a background check.

Desired Qualifications

  • Functional experience with at least 1 full SAP project implementation.
  • 10 years of progressively responsible information technology experience.
  • 7 years of which is working with SAP including 5 years prior as supervisor or manager in information technology.
  • Public Sector and/or Utility experience.
  • Experience with S/4
  • Product Management
  • ITIL and Hybrid Cloud environments.

Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
As Assigned:
Must be able to pass and maintain background checks / clearance as required for compliance.
Some assignments may require a Washington State Driver’s License

*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
