The Salesforce Developer is responsible for the continual evolution and enhancement of the Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) platform and Marketing Cloud. The Salesforce Developer is responsible for participating in and leading all aspects of application design, assessment of project requirements and required deliverables. The Salesforce Developer will work amongst Information Technology (IT) members and with cross-functional teams across the University. The developer will be responsible for implementing the long-term strategy of the Salesforce platform to meet current and future operational functionality and reporting needs of University programs and departments. The Salesforce Developer will report to the Salesforce Manager.
Essential Functions
- Develop and customize Salesforce application using Apex (classes and triggers), Lightning Components, and Lightning Web Components to extend Salesforce to support business requirements
- Application development, including basic Lightning pages, Lightning Web Components. Assist with each release cycle to implement and deploy new/updates to existing applications and code
- Work with integrated applications such as MuleSoft, Formassembly, Blackthorn, Nintex, Banner, OnBase, Active, Visual Studio Code, Directory, .Net, etc.
- Lead and produce project documentation, including functional and technical designs, and end-user guides.
- Gather business requirements, design, code, debug, test, analyze performance, package, and deploy solutions
- Socialize and communicate rollout plans including testing and release management
- Collaborate and interact with stakeholders to establish business requirement needs and translate these into technical solutions
- Lead administration tasks, software integration development, and operational reporting, while continuously evaluating and improving program process improvement and data quality
- Builds custom reports, dashboards, and workflows
- Manages all related technical resources and migration of data into Salesforce.
- Remain current with Salesforce technologies and best practices. Apply best practices and design patterns to support business requirements. Evaluates new releases of Salesforce to determine functionality requirements and provide detailed information on how changes will apply to all affected departments/users.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience implementing and developing in Apex, Visualforce, and JavaScript
- A proactive attitude to Salesforce enhancements and execution of best practices
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and create technical documentation
- Experience of Design and develop integrations between Salesforce.com and other systems
- Expert in Salesforce configuration including Flows, Process Builders, Validation Rules, Security, and access control
- Expert in the configuration of Reports and Dashboards
- Competency in HTML, XML, Flex, ASP, SQL, SOQL, Java or C++
- Competency in REST and SOAP API integrations
- Familiarity with developing on other cloud platforms
- Demonstrates continued personal and professional development
- Active participant in the Salesforce community
- Experience in Agile and other project management methods
- Ability to demonstrate critical, analytical thinking
- Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and customer service orientation
- Demonstrated experience in software development & maintenance
- Demonstrated experience software requirements & design, testing and deployment
- Ability to be highly productive, both working independently and in close collaboration within a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences (technical and non-technical, staff and managerial), and in a wide range of settings (e.g., one-on-one, small group, in person, conference calls and via e-mail)
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or similar technical degree or equivalent experience. Salesforce product knowledge and at least 6 months of Salesforce development experience
- Two (2) plus years of experience in Salesforce administration and/or implementation
- Certified Salesforce Platform Developer I preferred
- Certified Salesforce Java script Developer I preferred
- Experience in Salesforce Marketing Cloud development is a plus
Hours and Travel
- A typical work week is Monday through Friday
- Ability to work and support core business hours of the organization
- Flexible hours required to implement strategy, enterprise initiatives and execute deliverables
- Must be flexible in coming in early, working late or during non-work hours as needed
The anticipated salary range for Salesforce Developer is $106,250 to $125,000. The final salary offered may vary and will be determined based on factors such as the job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education of the successful candidate. This information is provided per NYS local law.
