Job description: Turner Specialty Services, LLC is seeking experienced Rope Access Welders with SPRAT and or IRATA certification in the Houston, TX area for long term assignments. The Rope Access Welder is responsible for carrying out standard rope access operations to perform maintenance, repairs, and other industrial work tasks on industrial petrol/chemical equipment while on ropes. The successful candidate must have the ability to perform work that is physically demanding, have good communication skills and the ability to assimilate a large amount of new information as well as live local to the Houston area. Responsibilities may also include rescue operations, technical reports, and administrative tasks.

  • Uses Industrial Rope Access methods and related equipment to access and complete a wide variety of maintenance, repairs and other industrial work tasks while on ropes or in difficult access areas
  • Maintains a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to the IRAT/SPRAT standards and practices
  • Ensures team members utilize proper personal protective equipment
  • Displays a healthy respect for heights and follows all OSHA, site specific and company’s safety procedures
  • Participates in required training and maintains a working understanding of rope access safe working practices
  • Inspects and verifies rope access systems and components before use
  • Recognizes worksite hazards and notifies the Rope Access Supervisor of any unsafe conditions
  • Maintains proficiency at rescue techniques and assist in rescues as directed and in accordance with certification level
  • Performs physical activities that require considerably use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, and walking
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • IRATA / SPRAT Level I, II, or III certification
  • Current TWIC Card Required
  • Must be certified per ASME requirements
  • Must hold current welder certifications.
  • Able to weld various types of metals and configurations using SMAW and GTAW processes.
  • Must have a capacity for work at height
  • Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test

General Job Description:

Perform duties associated with Rope Access in accordance to referencing code. Position reports directly to Operations Manager. Performs the following methods: Welding of stainless, carbon steel,

Qualification Standards:

  • SPRAT or IRATA Level I, II, or III certified
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Hazard Communication orientation/test
  • Turner industries Group, LLC Indoctrination
  • OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87)
  • CPR certification
  • Job site orientation
  • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
