This position is ideal for early-career researchers interested in advancing their experience in environmental microbiology, marine ecosystems, and molecular biology. The role includes hands-on research in the lab and field, including microbiome experimentation, marine sampling, bioinformatics, and participation in research cruises. Selected candidates will also undertake individualized research projects with direct mentorship from NYUAD faculty.Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct lab-based experiments involving the cultivation of microalgae and bacteria
  • Participate in sampling and monitoring activities in the Arabian Gulf and other marine ecosystems
  • Perform data analysis using bioinformatics tools and scripting languages such as Python or R
  • Contribute to ongoing research on topics such as coral resilience, drug metabolism by gut microbes, and ocean carbon flux
  • Support the development of microfluidics, single-cell genomics, and multi-omics tools
  • Collaborate with team members on manuscript preparation, presentations, and research communications
  • Assist with administrative and logistical support related to research cruises and field expeditions
  • Work under the Kawader program framework and participate in professional development opportunities

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in biological sciences, environmental science, marine science, chemistry, or a related field
  • Proficiency in English (equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or higher)
  • Strong interest in microbiome science, marine biology, or host-microbe interaction
  • Demonstrated experience in biological laboratory work, bioinformatics, or marine fieldwork
  • Willingness to engage in collaborative research, field sampling, and cross-disciplinary projects
  • UAE Nationals are strongly encouraged to apply
