Job description: Job Summary There is nothing more exciting than Reinsurance and I can prove that with an amazing opportunity that has transpired for a Reinsurance Accountant at one of the biggest insurers in Africa.You will be be tasked in effectively and efficiently plan, organise, coordinate and control the reinsurance accounting requirements for the organisation. The ideal candidate will be involved with preparing financial reports and statements, bank reconciliations, and conducting cyclical audits. Moreover, the candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and possess a strong business acumen.Responsibilities
- Management of the reinsurance accounting function
- Assist in accounting for month end transactions for proportional and non-proportional reinsurance (recoveries and reinstatement premiums)
- Engaging with the general finance team on movements in the reinsurance financials
- Engaging with the portfolio managers on movements in the reinsurance financials
- Preparation, reconciliation and communication of proportional and non-proportional reinsurance accounts to the reinsurance market, clients and internally
- Comprehensive reinsurance claims management for proportional and non-proportional reinsurance
Qualifications
- Degree or postgraduate diploma in finance, accounting, or relevant degree.
- At least 5 years experience in accounting or a similar role.
