About the role

The Byron MGP provides care to women birthing at the Birth Centre at Byron Central Hospital and at a Publicly Funded Homebirth PFHB). The Byron Birth Centre is a Level 2 Maternal/Level 1 Neonatal Service Capability facility.

The Registered Midwife, Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) coordinates and delivers high quality women and newborn centred midwifery care in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Standards for Practice for Registered Nurses, and the Policies and Procedures of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD).

If you have:

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife (Division 1), relevant clinical experience, and availability and capacity to work and participate in an on call roster across the continuum of care that includes pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period as specified in the Pilot Annualised Salary Agreement
  • Knowledge and understanding of women and newborn centred care, evidenced based practice and quality improvement
  • Understanding of, and ability to practice in accordance with legislation, policies and within the scope of practice of a Registered Midwife
  • Work as part of a midwifery team with capacity to work across a range of settings (hospital, community, home) in response to each woman’s needs
