We are looking for a skilled and experienced psychologist, who is particularly passionate about providing perinatal support, to join our awesome Family Care Centre team.

Currently this position is based at our Woonona Centre in the northern suburbs of Wollongong.

What you’ll be doing

The role involves the provision of specialist psychological services within the Family Care Centre’s multidisciplinary team.

The Family Care Centres (FCC) provide individual and group services to families within the perinatal period.

Selection Criteria: * Minimum 4 year degree with major in Psychology and must be generally registered as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.

  • Extensive knowledge of psychological issues pertaining to the perinatal period and experience in providing psychological intervention to women experiencing depression and anxiety during this time.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues and experience in counselling / clinical experience of women with a history of trauma/sexual abuse; domestic violence; relationship issues; grief and bereavement; history of emotional / mental health disorders.
  • Extensive knowledge of child development and attachment theory and the ability to provide intervention and advice on the management of early childhood behaviours.
  • Experience in providing group work counselling.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy, time management and organisational skills, interpersonal skills, and problem solving abilities.
  • Current unrestricted drivers licence and a willingness to provide outreach if required.
