Where you’ll be working

What you’ll be doing
The Psychologist provides professional and independent application of evidence-based psychological treatments to a range of behavioural, emotional, addiction, psychosocial and health problems. Collaboratively supports recovery and quality of life goals including consumers from the Acute Mental Health Unit and community setting.

Selection Criteria * Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist.

  • Demonstrated experience in Mental Health Drug and Alcohol.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the concept and principles of mental health rehabilitation and recovery and demonstrated experience and skills using a collaborative, strengths based approach to the care of mental health consumers.
  • Proven ability to think critically, problem solve and make timely, sound clinical decisions whilst working autonomously.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical leadership and clinical supervision to mental health clinicians from all disciplines, upholding standards of clinical practice, and critically analyse, review and develop relevant policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in running group interventions for consumers of Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol Services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and engage and collaborate with consumers, their families and carers and/or other stakeholders, and a demonstrated high level proficiency in computer literacy.
  • Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers’ licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
