There is an opportunity to fill multiple Project Officer positions within the NMHS Major Infrastructure Projects division for the New Women and Babies Hospital Project (NWBHP) and the Graylands Forensic Reconfiguration Project (GRAFP).

About this role

These position(s) will report to the Project Manager(s) and support the Project Director(s) and project teams to undertake project activities to plan and deliver the relevant project. Projects include the New Women and Babies Hospital Project (NWBHP) and the Graylands Forensic Reconfiguration Project (GRAFP).

About the projects

The $1.8 billion New Women and Babies Hospital Project (NWBHP) is one of the most significant investments for Western Australia and includes:

  • A new Women and Babies Hospital located at the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct in Murdoch.
  • A Family Birth Centre and the expansion of obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatology services, birthing suites and theatres at Osborne Park Hospital.
  • The expansion of neonatology services at Perth Children’s Hospital.

This landmark project will not only provide world-class facilities across three sites and replace the century-old King Edward Memorial Hospital, but it will also deliver greater choice for women, families and the community of Western Australia. With a focus on harnessing new technologies and leveraging digital health opportunities, the project will create exciting opportunities and synergies for research and partnerships with universities and health institutes.

The Graylands Forensic Reconfiguration Project (GRAFP) is the NMHS team working on the system wide Graylands Reconfiguration and Forensics Taskforce (GRAFT) project.

The State Government has committed $218.9 million for Stage 1 of works for the GRAFT project, of which $14.8 million is Australian Government funding. Stage 1 includes the development of 53 new forensic mental health beds at the Graylands Hospital site, consisting of:

  • 48 male non-acute adult beds, and
  • A separate 5-bed children and adolescent unit.

The NMHS GRAFP team are working with Department of Health on the development of a business case for Stage 1. This includes the development of a revised master plan for future forensic services at Graylands, based on updated schedules of accommodation and service delivery models.
