Job description: Work as a Programmer Analyst II or lead a team of Programmer Analyst I’s in supporting a fully integrated Management Information System in a higher education environment, which system includes, but is not limited to, Student Information System, Financial Aid System, Human Resource System (i.e., Payroll/Personnel), Financial Record System, Loan Management System, library systems, and the Alumni Development System. Support structured secure access to student, staff and management information, and guarantee consistent storage and retrieval of all relevant data.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Interact with colleges, list serves, and other software providers for current updated information.
- Update local modifications when software is upgraded.
- Work with SCT technical personnel to debug and modify the Banner products.
- Provide assistance to other areas as needed.
- Direct a team of programmer analysts through various system and program development cycles for Finance, Student, and Human Resources.
- Maintain current software to ensure reporting accuracy within computing programs and processes.
- Serve as technical advisor to user committees that prioritize projects and work assignments.
- Implement, maintain, and enhance Banner software for the Student, Finance, Accounts Receivable, Cashiering, Financial Aid, Human Resource, Payroll, and Property.
- Provide support for Control and Loan Management Systems.
- Create new Banner reports as requested by staff and faculty.
- Provide technical support including training and demonstrations.
- Create and maintain reports for the Management Reporting System (MRS).
- Maintain the security of Banner and MRS user access.
- Implement new Banner modules as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent (30 completed credit hours minimum) in Computer Information Systems, or a related subject area.
- Two (2) years of direct, paid, full-time professional work experience, designing, developing, and maintaining computer applications.
Trade off 1:1 in education/experience requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an information technology field of study.
- Working knowledge of ERP applications, content management systems.
- Strong technical/back-end knowledge of Ellucian’s Banner system.
- Planning and executing third-party software implementations and integrations with a focus on using APIs.
- Working knowledge of Git, GitLab.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Programming experience in SQL and/or PostgreSQL.
- Programming skills in either PL*SQL or Python.
- Experience with UNIX /LINUX operating systems and commands.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Knowledge and experience in web technologies such as JavaScript, jQuery, React, AngularJS, HTML5, JSON.
- Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with clients and co-workers.
- Familiar with relational databases and database methodologies.
- Knowledge of Oracle Forms, Evisions and internet technology: HTML, ASP, IIS. Banner experience in a higher education environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
