We are currently hiring for a full-time Preschool/VPK Blended Classroom Lead Teacher to provide a safe, fun and educational environment for our early learning center participants. Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring and faith.
- Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
- Organizes and leads activities designed to promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development, such as large group activities, teacher directed activities, process art, music, and storytelling.
- Establishes and encourages rules to promote positive behavior.
- Attends to children’s basic needs including toileting, supervising meal times, playground times, and free play.
- Conducts parent conferences, and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
- Maintains required program records.
- Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED, a CDA or higher, have completed MODS (Introductory Child Care Training, Parts 1 & 2), have completed required VPK instructor DCF MODS. 6 months to one year pre-school teaching experience required. Knowledge of behavior management, child led play, and VPK programming preferred. Must be able to interact with young children for an extended period of time both indoors and outdoors. Pre-employment drug test and background check required.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend and reach with hands and arms. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
$15.00-$20.00/hr commensurate with experience.
