Savannah Classical Academy Charter School

Savannah Classical Academy Charter School is a Locally Authorized K-12 Public Charter school and operates autonomously from the county public school system.

Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) is seeking candidates that are highly skilled and passionate about their content area. SCA is a K-12 public charter school. The 2024-2025 school year will be the 12th year of our operation. Once fully enrolled (Fall 2027) SCA will have 640 students in grades K-12.

We are excited to open our first four-year-old Pre-K program in the fall of 2024 in our renovated space specifically for Pre-K. The classroom will have 20 students one teacher and one teacher assistant dedicated to this program.

The successful teaching candidate will be very knowledgeable in both content and proven researched based instructional practices.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Elementary Teacher will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a classroom environment that utilizes space, materials, routines, and guidance techniques to effectively facilitate the intellectual, emotional, and social development of the students assigned.

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer

WORKDAYS: 190

Requirements:

Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

Experience, Skill, and Certification: Valid Georgia Professional Teaching Certificate in the assigned teaching field.

General Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Demonstrates mastery of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials for course(s) taught.
  • Creates lesson plans, aligned with current state standards, which drives instruction through formative assessment and differentiation.
  • Maintains a safe, organized classroom, which supports students.
  • Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques.
  • Provides a variety of assessments and uses assessments for planning and instruction.
  • Monitor and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports the school wide behavior expectation.
  • Uses available technology to enhance the students’ learning experiences.
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings and extra-curricular/school related activities.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates behavior that is conscientious and responsible.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the site administrator.
  • Follows professional practices consistent with school policies in working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues.
  • Facilitates home-school communication by such means as a communication folder, scheduling conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications.
  • Demonstrates professional practices in teaching:
  • Models correct use of language, oral and written.
  • Demonstrates accurate and up-to-date knowledge of content.
  • Implements designated curriculum and grade level standards.
  • Maintains lesson plans as required by school policy.
  • Assigns instructional tasks and homework to students.
  • Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Plans and coordinates purposeful assignments for paraprofessional to support student learning.

Classroom: Employees in this category spend at least most of the workday in a typical classroom or related educational environment.
