The selected Postdoctoral Associate will work under the guidance of Professor Monica Menendez and other NYUAD faculty affiliated with CITIES. This interdisciplinary center brings together experts from science, engineering, social sciences, and the humanities to design data-driven, AI-powered, and policy-relevant solutions for sustainable urban living. Research topics may include smart mobility, supply chains, urban infrastructure, AI decision support tools, and real-time urban activity monitoring using social data.Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced research in urban science aligned with CITIES’ thematic areas
- Collect, interpret, and analyze large-scale urban and environmental datasets
- Design tools, models, and simulations to inform decision-making and policy
- Collaborate with NYUAD faculty, international researchers, and government partners
- Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences
- Support interdisciplinary workshops and contribute to CITIES’ research ecosystem
- Engage with local issues specific to Abu Dhabi and the UAE through applied research
Job Requirements
- PhD in Urban Science, Engineering, Data Science, Urban Planning, Architecture, Systems Science, Social Sciences, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in urban data modeling, smart systems, or sustainability-related research
- Strong quantitative, analytical, or design skills relevant to the candidate’s disciplinary focus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative attitude and commitment to impactful interdisciplinary research
- A track record of peer-reviewed publications is preferred
