Removes, cleans, installs or replaces joints and fixtures such as traps, faucets, and unions. Connects equipment to installed system and replaces sections of pipe and tile by following previously used routes, hangers, and levels.Installs and repairs steam presses and other laundry/dry cleaning equipment. Installs, modifies, and repairs new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems; locates and taps main lines, sets up systems routes, places and route opening, places hangers for proper level and slope, and installs valves, traps, and unions needed for proper operation of systems. Determines that parts such as pipe, reduction couplings, elbows, traps, and valves are the proper kind and size. Tests and make needed adjustments to systems and equipment for proper operation, flow, drainage, and sanitary conditions after completing the work. Operates vehicle when necessary to drive to work site.Provides Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledge customers, smile and make eye contact. Ask questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction with the quality of goods and services. Take action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Observes required sanitation and hazardous waste disposal rules and regulations. Use the required safety equipment and observe safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. EVALUATIONS:QualificationsSkills and Knowledge: Must have knowledge of how various supply disposal and utility systems are installed and operated. Must have the ability to plan and lay out the installation and modification of various systems and equipment including angles, arcs, and circles; to interpret and apply building plans, blueprints, and use shop mathematics. Must have skill in the use of any of the accepted trade methods and techniques and in the use of tools and equipment of the plumbing trade. Must possess or be able to obtain applicable government operator permits. Must have a valid driver¿s license.Responsibility: After work is assigned, it uses personal knowledge to select tools, decide on the method and technique to use, and completes the work with a minimum of supervision. Selects materials and obtains replacement parts by comparison with the part to be replaced or by reference to supply lists and catalogs. Tests the unit or system on completion of the work to ensure equipment is repaired according to requirements. You may be required to execute overnight TAD.Physical Effort: May work from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms. May work in hard-to-reach areas; required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lift, carry and set up parts and equipment weighing up to 45lbs independently and over 45lbs with assistance.Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. May be required to make repairs and installations outside in bad weather. May make repairs in areas where foul odoriferous fumes are present.
