Primary Responsibilities/Function: Facility (Board and Care homes)-based staff report daily to specific ASP sites (Board and Care homes). Provide SMARTS training at facilities. Outreach to 100% of ASP residents (200 individuals unduplicated) and provide and document recovery-based skills to improve ASP residents toward their recovery and self-sufficiency. Report timely ASP resident service data for QSR to Program Manager. Liaison with owner/operator of ASP facilities. Participate in the outreach, recruitment and support of the Peer Council and Town Hall.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consistently engages and involves residents in all aspects of the program, including activity and goal planning.
  • Regularly collaborates with the onsite staff of the board & care.
  • Creates and facilitates groups based on peer support principals, recovery, and resident interest groups.
  • Advocates for resident inclusion and sees that their voices and actions are an integral part of the board & care environment.
  • Coaches and supports residents with all community living issues, such as negotiating with roommates.
  • Coaches individuals to become advocates for their own care and wellbeing.
  • Provides messages of hope and models recovery.
  • Gains knowledge of entitlement programs, such as SSI, SSDI. Assists and educates members in negotiating all relevant social service systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to the needs and concerns of individuals who have mental health, substance use, or co-occurring challenges.
  • Offers support, information and access to needed resources and appropriate services.
  • Addresses the needs and concerns of residents with support and empowerment to advocate and access needed resources and appropriate services.
  • Responsible for creating and facilitating regular groups that are person centered and tailored to the wants and needs of the participants.
  • Coordinates program meetings, ensuring these are held on a regular basis and are engaging to residents.
  • Documents all client interactions correctly on forms and/or into computer tracking system in a timely manner.
  • Address the needs and concerns of clients with support and access to needed resources and appropriate services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Accountability: Reports to the Program Manager.

Minimum Requirements, including linguistic and cultural skills, education, experiences, licenses and certifications:

  • Must have a satisfactory driving record.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Lived experience with mental illness for self is required. A strong positive viewpoint towards mental health is essential.
  • Experience in facilitation of meetings.
  • Excellent communication skills-written, verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and teams.
  • Advanced technology skills in broad range of digital platforms, software and hardware, vital.
  • Essential digital experience with online curriculum design, facilitation and presentations.
  • Knowledge of community resources, services and the San Diego County system of care.
  • Excellent organizational skills and monitoring details focus
  • Ability to keep confidential information confidential and be discrete.
  • Knowledge and use of computers with ability to utilize databases and MS Office.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to facilitate groups and speak to groups.

Expected salary: $23 per hour
