General Notes

Provides on-site and remote training and mentoring for Access Center staff in performing a variety of responsibilities in the healthcare operations of patient care in adherence to clinic scheduling protocols and standards of practice. Assists leadership to determine general training goals for all sections of the Access Center. Trains staff and assures instructional quality and appropriate content. Conduct classroom lecture style training, electronic training as well as individualized one-on-one training to Access Center Staff utilizing approved curriculum. Assess staff on their competency of their ability to perform the necessary requirements. Current knowledge of effective learning and development methods. Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices. Experience in project management. Proficient in Microsoft office and learning management system. Excellent communications skills and ability to build a rapport with staff and new employees. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of staff development trainer and others. Ability to teach registration policies and procedures. Ability to use experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.

Purpose

The Patient Access Development and Training Specialist will assist the Access Center Leadership in the planning and implementation of internal onboarding training programs, policies, and procedures. This position will collaborate with the Access Center Manager, Clinical Managers, and the leadership team to support the Access Center supervisors and captains to provide classroom, on-site training, and guidance to empower staff to be effective members of the UTHA Access Center team. Additionally, this position will abide by the organization’s mission in performing job duties and will demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

Create and execute learning strategies and programs, for new employees, and existing staff continuing education. Evaluate individual and organizational development of Access Center staff members.

Implement various learning methods for Access Center staff (e.g. coaching, job-shadowing, online training). Design and deliver UT learn courses, workshops and other trainings.

Assess the success of development plans and help employees make the most of learning opportunities. Help Managers develop their members through career pathing. Direct the design, planning, and implementation of corporate organizational development programs, policies, and procedures.

Facilitate coordinate and teach multiple orientation classes including clinical protocols, standard operating practices, Customer Service, phone etiquette, Call center software.

Conduct classroom lecture style training, electronic training as well as individualized one-on-one training to Access Center Staff utilizing approved curriculum.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and previous experience as a Training Specialist or similar role as well as experience with designing training programs and workshops and experience with learning management software. Knowledge of various training and teaching methods and talent management and succession planning methods. Excellent decision making and organizational skills. A sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success. Critical thinker and team player with strong problem-solving skills and time-management skills. Great interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office and database software.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior healthcare setting experience preferred. Working knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems to include scheduling and general billing functions preferred. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Good organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills. Knowledge of operating a multi-phone system or electronic telephone software system. Proficient use of computers. Ability to be flexible and multi-task as needed.

Salary Range

$52,000+ depending on qualifications
