The Opportunity

Joining the team as a Nurse Unit Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the Day of Surgery Admissions Unit, including admissions and discharge processes of day procedures, admissions of overnight stays and coordination of the Pre-Admission Clinic. Surgical specialties include general surgery, ENT, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, colorectal, plastics, ophthalmology and endoscopy services.

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, you will work with and support nursing staff in achieving excellence in care delivery in line with best practice and legislative requirements.

The successful candidate will supervise, lead, direct and motivate staff to achieve outcomes with the ability to manage financial and human resources.

This key leadership role will see you:

  • Apply advanced nursing practices in planning, implementing and evaluating care in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
  • Be a positive mentor and provide clinical leadership and support to your team
  • Effectively manage roster processes and allocate duties to clinical staff
  • Working with and supporting other managers within the wider hospital community in achieving excellence in patient outcomes
  • Assist in shaping organisational strategy, improve procedural service provision and achieve departmental and Hospital strategic objectives.

About You

You will have exceptional communication skills and the ability to inspire, motivate and mentor your team. You will be a leader with a passion for seeing your team members succeed and grow while bringing a passion for a high level of clinical care and service.

  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Minimum 5 years postgraduate experience in acute care environment
  • Experience or exposure to managing clinical staff recruitment, rostering and performance management
  • Previous experience as a senior nurse or manager will be highly regarded
  • Strong leadership skills and confident with delegating duties
  • Post-graduate studies in an appropriate specialty or management qualifications will be highly regarded

Remuneration

A base hourly rate ranging from $65.84 – $71.24 + superannuation based on relevant experience and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances. (QLD NUM/MUM level 1 – 4).
