About the role
You’ll be providing a high level of evidence based nursing care within the specialty area of rural or rural generalist health care to improve access of care and address gaps in existing health care services through the provision of a flexible and innovative model of care. Providing clinical and professional leadership as an expert in the clinical field and undertaking comprehensive health assessments as well as collaborating and consulting with other members of the health care team to plan, implement and evaluate care. This integrated approach will support best practice and maximise patient care outcomes. The Transitional Nurse Practitioner is appointed for a provisional period of up to three (3) years until the applicant meets the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) requirements for nurse practitioner endorsement.
If you have/are:
- Nurse Practitioner: Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse (division 1) with Board-approved nurse practitioner qualification at Masters level or education and equivalence as determined by the Board (Award) and at least 3 years full time equivalent in an advanced practice nursing role, within the past six (6) years from the date when the complete application seeking endorsement as a nurse practitioner is received by the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia. Transitional Nurse Practitioner: Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) and a minimum of 5 years’ full time equivalent post registration experience and at least 3 years’ full time equivalent experience related to Rural or Rural Generalist specialty and post graduate qualification in a clinical specialty as deemed appropriate by the panel
- Demonstrated advanced clinical skills, competence and leadership in the assessment, treatment and management of patients with rural health needs and a valid unrestricted drivers’ licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment
- Demonstrated understanding of integrated care and proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework and mixed clinical environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current issues impacting on the provision of health care services in regional and rural areas
- Demonstrated high level advanced communication and interpersonal skills, including the use of coaching, across a variety of mediums and proven ability to write for a variety of documents
- Proven advanced skills in clinical teaching and leadership in strategic and clinical service planning and evidence of the ability to influence organisational and cultural change
- Evidence of high level commitment to quality improvement and evidence based practice
- Proven information technology skills with specific experience in the use of word processing, database and spreadsheet software
