Job description: Mersey Community Hospital are seeking a motivated Nurse Manager to join their team in the Central Sterilising Department.
The role:
This exciting new Nurse Manager position encompasses the Central Sterilising Department and Endoscopy services as part of the new restructured leadership team and will play an active part of the ongoing Operating Theatre, Day Surgery, and Central Sterilising Department redevelopment set for completion in 2025. The successful Nurse Manager – Central Sterilising Department (CSD) will:
- Provide leadership to the CSD at Mersey Community Hospital (MCH).
- Ensure the efficient and effective provision of care, based on clinical standards and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework by coordinating the clinical, management, education, and nursing research functions within the CSD.
- Lead and manage the coordination of Reusable Medical Devices (RMD’s) and implantables used for patient care.
- Be an active member of the North West Surgical and Perioperative leadership team (NWRH ad MCH).
- Sound knowledge of Endoscopy services.

The Mersey Community Hospital:
Located in Latrobe, the Mersey Community Hospital offers general and specialist health services including 24 hour emergency department, general medicine day surgery and endoscopy, rehabilitation, palliative care and oncology services along with a variety of specialist clinics. Mersey Community hospital is a dedicated elective surgery centre and provides a mixture of general hospital services. The hospital has close ties with the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School and with TAFE Tasmania thus providing opportunities for comprehensive clinical training programs.
Details of Appointment
Fixed term full time, day worker position working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from April 2024 until April 2025.

- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $118,801 – $125,301 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: * Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable: * Certificate III in Sterilisation Services or equivalent
- Relevant post graduate qualifications
