Are you an experienced Mental Health Clinician, looking for a change and who wants to help mental health consumers in times of crisis? Come and join our caring and compassionate team working shifts in both the Acute Care Team and the State-Wide Mental Health Telephone Access Line (SMHTAL) providing a point of care and contact for mental health consumers in the community.

Where you’ll be working
Acute Care Team, Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service (ESMHS), located on the Prince of Wales Hospital campus, Randwick. What you’ll be doing

Plan, coordinate and deliver high quality acute mental health care to consumers consistent with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.

The role involves telephone triage, mental health assessment and risk management. The position is permanent full time and is required to work as part of a 24 hour seven (7) day a week rotating roster

If you are an overseas qualified Social Worker, you are required to have your qualifications assessed by the AASW to meet the position criteria.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.

A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.

In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

Selection Criteria: * Social Worker or Occupational Therapist qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award, current full registration with AHPRA and/or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer. Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Psychologist with a four year degree in psychology and registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA).

  • Demonstrated core competency skills in Mental Health interventions in the Community and experience in providing comprehensive mental health assessments
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery
  • Demonstrated experience working with people with an acute mental illness or disorder
  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters, commensurate with years of experience
  • Demonstrated computer skills and the capacity to use health information systems
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and evidence based practice and a commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning
  • Current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence.
