  • This position is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing medical support logistics for Marine Corps Marathon Organization events.
  • Oversees the medical support program, conducts briefings, and recruits medical volunteers for all Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO) races.
  • Will assist in general race operations functions. Reports to Operations Manager, MCMO. Determines all medical needs associated with events to include number and locations of aid station components with recommendations to the Operations Manager.
  • Determines medical staff specialty needs and placement at aid station components. Recruits and trains all medical volunteers on medical course operations. In collaboration with Fire and Emergency Medical Services, determines needs and requests support from various agencies.
  • Provides input to Operations Manager regarding course needs related to participant safety. Conducts site surveys with medical volunteers, staff and Marine leads to determine placement, safety considerations and expectations. Recommends equipment and supply needs for all medical locations and may act as Contracting Officer Representative for medical related contracts. May acts as liaison between county, district, city, federal and state hospital representatives, emergency medical service providers, Red Cross and Navy Medical representatives and coordinates services. Verifies credentials of medical volunteers to ensure they are licensed professionals in their medical field.
  • Implements medical tracking solutions utilized during Marine Corps Marathon events and coordinates implementation and training with Amateur Radio Operators (ARO) and medical teams. May assists MCMO Operations Manager to present annual race briefings to constituencies as well as contingencies for emergencies.
  • Tracks all medical data and creates reports and briefs for pre-and post-race planning. May be required to travel to attend MCM races, meetings and expos to promote races by attending other agency expos to set up booths with MCM materials to promote MCM race series; marketing races by handing out MCM materials, speaking to runners about MCM races and soliciting vendors to participate in races.

EVALUATIONS:Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in a logistical related function in event medical operations or bachelor¿s degree in operations or logistics management.
  • Must have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must possess a valid State Driver¿s License.
  • This is a white-collar position requires moderate intermittent physical activity including bending, lifting carrying up to 30 lbs.
