Job description: Mechanical Technician – Syncrolift and Shipyard Equipment MaintenanceDP World UAE is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to support the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems in its shipyard and port operations in Dubai. This hands-on role focuses on fault diagnosis, equipment overhauls, and installation of mechanical plant, ensuring maximum equipment uptime and operational safety.Job Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Gender: AnyWhat Does a Mechanical Technician Do?– Perform fault diagnosis, systematic strip-down, and repairs of mechanical equipment such as cranes, winches, pumps, compressors, and valves
– Carry out maintenance and overhauls of syncrolift systems, Rexroth shiplifts, sheaves, and gearboxes
– Replace wire ropes and ensure proper function of heavy lifting systems
– Plan and request spare parts in advance to minimize procurement delays and equipment downtime
– Support installation of new mechanical systems and infrastructure at port or shipyard facilities
– Maintain a clean and safe work environment in all job areas
– Act as foreman on assigned projects when required and support daily departmental operations
– Inspect materials and report defects prior to use to ensure safety and quality
– Work closely with supervisors, foremen, and management to maintain efficient operations
– Participate in technical training and departmental workshops as neededWhat Are the Key Responsibilities?– Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on shipyard mechanical systems
– Identify and communicate potential issues before they lead to equipment failure
– Perform mechanical installation and alignment on heavy-duty systems
– Oversee and support daily repair tasks and minor projects within assigned scope
– Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks and safety observations
– Ensure compliance with safety standards and internal policies during all operationsWhat Skills Are Needed for a Mechanical Technician in Dubai?Education & Experience:
– Technical diploma or equivalent certification in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Maintenance
– At least 3 to 5 years of experience in shipyard or industrial mechanical maintenance roles
– Practical knowledge of syncrolift systems, gearboxes, and mechanical lifting equipmentTechnical Skills:
– Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair abilities
