Job description: Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Library Systems and Digital Access Coordinator leads the management and optimization of the library’s resource management systems and integrated library systems (ILS) to support key library operations and enhance user experience. This role involves configuring, integrating, upgrading, and customizing digital systems to ensure seamless access to library collections and services. The coordinator designs efficient workflows for resource delivery, integrates third-party applications to support research and learning, manages hardware and software implementations, and ensures accurate metadata for optimized searchability and resource discovery. Additionally, they oversee the development and maintenance of the library’s website, create and manage online learning resources, evaluate emerging technologies, and resolve technical access issues. Strong project management skills are essential for overseeing day-to-day confidentiality, adaptability to evolving technologies, and occasional availability for after-hours system upgrades or troubleshooting.Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
1. Manage and optimize the library’s integrated systems (ILS) and digital resource platforms to ensure seamless user access.
2.Collaborate on system upgrades and customizations, with a focus on usability, accessibility and emerging user needs.
3. Design, implement, and refine workflows for barrier-free delivery of digital and physical collections.
4. Oversee third-party software integration for research support, discovery tools, and student success services.
5. Coordinate data driven projects involving metadata management, discovery enhancements, and resource access.
6. Develop and maintain the library’s online presence, including user-focused interfaces and responsive website design.
7. Lead the creation of multimedia research guides, tutorials, and digital learning modules to promote information literacy.
8. Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning, and data analytics) to enhance library services and operations.
9. Monitor and improve authentication systems for secure and efficient access to library databases and e-resources.
10.Support faculty and students in the discovery and adoption of open educational resources (OER) and digital content.
11. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring minimum disruption to users.
12. Manage the institutional repository, applying metadata best practices and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.
13. Implement data collection and analytics to evaluate digital resource usage, optimizing systems based on insights.
14. Participate in cross-departmental collaboration to align technology initiatives with broader institutional goals.
15. Provide user support and training for library staff, faculty, and students on digital resource tools and platforms.
16. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Library Services, Dean of Academic Innovation & Technology, and the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs.NOTICE: Required Documents

  • Bachelor’s degree in information science, computer science, digital systems, or a related field.
  • Experience with digital library systems, integrated library systems (ILS), or similar technologies.

Preferred:

  • Master’s in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or a related discipline with technical expertise.
  • Familiarity with metadata standards, digital accessibility, and open educational resources (OER).
  • Certifications in library technology, project management, or information architecture.
  • Expertise in library information systems and technologies.
  • Understanding of data management, metadata standards, and accessibility requirements.
  • Strong communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with AI, user analytics, and emerging tech trends in libraries.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and with external vendors.
