Job description: The University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD) is seeking a Lead Web Developer to manage its web presence and maintain a consistent presentation of the UMSOD brand. This position will maintain the school’s website to ensure it is always up to date and accurate. The Lead Web Developer manages and oversees the planning and directing of resources necessary to develop and support the strategic initiatives of the web based systems/applications for one or more business functions of the School; reviews, evaluates, and recommends objectives, policies, and procedures to ensure that the web based systems/applications provided are of high quality and that the needs of the UMSOD are being serviced. Manages large/complex projects that require web-based systems/applications.   • Manages the use and administration of the Content Management System (CMS) to update websites and train users to effectively manage content.
  • Manages the development and execution of project work plans for internal and external-facing websites.
  • Maintains functional efficiency and productivity by developing, implementing, and coordinating policies and procedures.
  • Fosters and supports a conducive consultant/client environment, providing business unit and campus representatives with assessment, training, and advisement in web development area.
  • Using best practices, authors thoughtful web content and identifies opportunities for enhanced engagement and organic reach.
  • Monitors, reviews, and evaluates ongoing functional programs and controls, assessing needs and facilitating improvements.
  • Monitors web analytics, creates relevant reports, and presents outcomes to key stakeholders.
  • Performs such administrative duties as budgetary tracking, report formulation, and quality assurance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Administration, Computer Engineering, or a related fieldExperience: Five (5) years of related experience with knowledge of at least two (2) structured programming languages and relational database management systems. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures (i.e., SQL, C++, HTML, ColdFusion, CGI and JavaScript/VBScript, IIS, ASP, PHP, .NET, Perl, Python, and Index Server).OREquivalent of nine (9) years combination of formal information systems and web education, training, or experience with knowledge of at least (2) structured programming languages and relational database management systems.Supervisory Experience: N/ACertification/Licensure: N/AOther: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience.
