This position will support ongoing and new research within the Smart Materials Lab (Naumov Research Group), conducting experiments and analysis involving thermal and mechanical deformation properties of solids. It includes hands-on work with surface and bulk material characterization, as well as reporting, mentoring, and collaboration across NYUAD’s Core Technology Platforms.Key Responsibilities
- Conduct experiments on thermal and mechanical properties of new smart materials
- Analyze elastic and plastic deformation in response to temperature changes
- Collaborate with faculty on interdisciplinary materials science research
- Prepare research data, publications, and conference presentations
- Participate in regular reporting, research group seminars, and lab meetings
- Train and guide students or interns in related techniques
- Utilize advanced analytical instrumentation through collaboration with core labs
Job Requirements
- Background in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Solid-State Physics
- Strong publication record in engineering or physical sciences
- Hands-on experience with thermal and mechanical characterization methods
- Knowledge of material deformation mechanics (elasticity, plasticity)
- Proficiency in scientific data analysis and interpretation
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative research setting
