Job title: Junior Accountant

Job description: A leading South African hospitality group is looking for an energetic, motivated Junior Accountant to join their team based in Johannesburg North.
Your duties include but not limited too:
- Reviewing/ analysis the VAT schedule,
- Capturing the VAT returns,
- Preparing a consolidated schedule showing payments due/ refunds for the group,
- Submitting the VAT return,
- Pushing the VAT payment,
- Tracking if the payments have been released,
- Print and review SARS statement for journal entries, long outstanding refunds,
- Monitor e-filing for additional assessments, request for information, request for VAT reviews, etc
- Attending to SARS VAT queries (journal entries, long outstanding refunds, additional assessments, request for information)
- Review and submit VAT review schedules requested by SARS
- Prepare a reconciliation between SARS statement and VAT control account. Resolve differences either with SARS or the unit
- Attending to SARS VAT audits
- Attend to adhoc queries as per Tax Manager request
Education:
- BCom Degree/Diploma in
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- Minimum of 3 years in accounting
- Advanced Excel advantageous
- Financial acumen
- Excellent communication skills
- Team player
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Deadline driven
