Job description: Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our finance team as a Junior Accountant. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or entry-level professional to gain hands-on experience in accounting processes and financial management. The Junior Accountant will work closely with senior accountants and management to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, while also contributing to various accounting tasks and projects.
Responsibilities:
1. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Assist in the processing of invoices, expense reports, and payments. Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivable transactions.
2. General Ledger Maintenance: Help with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities to ensure the integrity of financial data.
3. Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
4. Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering and analysing financial data and preparing reports for management review.
5. Audit Support: Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and provide documentation as needed for internal and external audits.
6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
7. Financial Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
8. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement efficiency enhancements.
9. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and operations, to resolve accounting-related issues and improve financial processes.
Qualifications:
– Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
– Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and concepts.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software (e.g., Pastel, QuickBooks, SAP).
– Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
– Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
– Eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Prior internship or work experience in accounting or finance.
– Familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
– Knowledge of financial analysis techniques and tools.
Expected salary: R15000 – 25000 per month
