We are searching for a IT Application Development Senior Specialist whose overarching goal is to provide independent critical thinking, analysis, and creation of applications meeting the business requirements for all enterprise applications throughout DOC.As an IT Application Development Senior Specialist, you will independently and accurately identify, and assess business and technology defined requirements, transforming them into practical code to deliver work critical applications. who is responsible for independently analyzing and creating written code which creates applications the department uses in its day-to-day operations. The candidate of choice must be a subject matter expert of DOC’s extensive library of applications which are supported by the DOC IT .NET team.The identification, selection, and integration of OMNI data and other external systems data to create a cohesive and informative reporting capability is at the heart of DOC business functionality and informational needs. As a senior technical expert, you will review code of both peers and journey level staff to ensure the efficacy and integrity of the application being developed.The IT Application Development Senior Specialist is a subject matter expert in the area of enterprise mission critical business .NET application development/SSRS report writing. This superior skillset is an enabler allowing DOC to conduct business operations on a daily basis.   • Directing or creating the delivery of advanced application practices for .NET application development/SSRS report writing
  • Leading and directing the delivery of advanced practices for .NET application development/SSRS report writing including maintenance, new developments, enhancements and migrations of legacy applications
  • Creating and implementing solutions, development standards and procedures to ensure DOC .NET application quality and logical data modeling and business solutions architecture
  • Leading and conducting research through independent leadership, recommending technical solutions to solve business problems and enhance the performance and quality of applications
  • Recommending, establishing and following standards and guidelines for developing web-based applications
  • Supporting maintenance activities pertaining to scope, objectives, estimates, unit testing, designs, coding, and deployment
  • Acting as the .NET team technical lead helping to ensure quality of code, process adherence, and mentoring other team staff
  • Others as assigned

QualificationsWhat we need (required qualifications):

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

AND

  • At least 5 years of experience in .NET (e.g. C#, Visual Basic .NET) and HTML5/CSS3 development of business software solutions

OR

  • Commensurate background and experience can be gained in lieu of the required degree.

The following knowledge, skills and/or abilities are required in addition to the above education/experience requirements for the role:

  • Familiarity with the ASP.NET framework, SQL Server and design/architectural patterns
  • Demonstrated experience in logical data modeling, relational data architecture
  • Experience in resolving application defects and performance issues in connection with changing business requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of design patterns, enterprise integration patterns, and patterns for modern enterprise architecture
  • Experience in life-cycle management of modern application development
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

What will make your application stand out (preferred qualifications):

  • Experience with agile, scrum, or iterative, or waterfall development/project methodologies

Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process.
