The SAP Basis Architect. The SAP Basis Architect is responsible for working with the Epson SAP Basis managed services team, and providing proactive leadership, approvals, and guidance on all associated SAP Basis tasks. This role will also be key in developing an Epson SAP Basis practice.

This position is 100% remote.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide performance tuning, problem analysis, upgrades, and system administration for SAP instances
  • Provide installation, configuration, integration, upgrade, and testing services for new projects and ongoing maintenance for SAP environments in a VM environment.
  • Analyze, diagnose and resolve computing problems involving system hardware, third-party software, and operating system software.
  • The position has a 24×7 on-call commitment and availability for evening and weekend work is required.
  • Build strong technical rapport with other cross-functional teams
  • Evaluates current systems environments, conducts research, recommends, and implements innovative systems technology that can enhance the reliability, security, productivity, and agility of the Epson Infrastructure and associated enterprise systems.
  • Accountable for the measurement, tracking, and improvement of Service Levels for all aspects of operations including day-to-day administration, operations, and execution of the annual disaster recovery plan
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, resource optimization, and configuring CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required in collaboration with Basis and applications teams.
  • Monitors and proactively manages supported products and services to assure their performance, availability, security, and capacity.
  • Diagnoses, isolates, and resolves problems with supported technologies, products, and services. Identifies and performs documented root cause analysis.
  • Communicates with software and hardware vendors, technical support, and engineering
  • Participate and manage key infrastructure projects as an individual, with the department’s team members, and with Epson’s business groups.
  • Adopts and follows best practices and develops procedures where appropriate.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 8-12 years of experience in SAP Basis administration, system refreshes and migrations, user support, applying patches, enhancement packs, and general system upgrades
  • Minimum 5 years of SAP Basis experience in advance (non-ECC) SAP systems/modules
  • Minimum 5 years using SAP Solution Manager for supporting the SAP environment, including use of Early Watch reports
  • Minimum 5 years of process improvement, with an emphasis on analytics
  • Minimum 5 years of SAP system performance tuning, optimization, and experience in ERP or advanced (e.g. CRM HANA, EWM, BOBJ) SAP systems/modules
  • Expert with SAP architecture, design, and configuration to enable review of the technical team’s work and provide guidance, as appropriate
  • Strong HANA (Suite on Hana as well as S/4) Administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning preferred
  • SAP Certifications in related fields, preferred
  • Experience in SAP Solutions Manager
  • Interact with development teams, configuration teams, various technical support teams, and business stakeholders to optimize and maintain the overall SAP reliability, availability, and performance.
  • Extensive knowledge in administration of SAP BI, SAP Enterprise Portal, SAP PI, and Solution Manager.
  • Knowledge in performing client copies, system refreshes, and SAP troubleshooting.
  • Experienced in SAP Correction and Transport System and SAP Security management.
  • Knowledge of single sign-on (SSO) solutions to portal and backend ABAP and BI systems.
  • Evaluation and design of interfaces between SAP R/3 and external systems.
  • Coordinate and schedule SAP Go-Live sessions.
  • Review and implement the recommendations of SAP EarlyWatch sessions.
  • Experience in administration, maintenance, and upgrade of Business Objects (BOBJ)
  • Knowledge of SAP data archiving for BI and Enterprise via OpenText IXOS solution.
  • Provide support in Unix administration including space management, monitoring, performance tuning, and security.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures and documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

The starting annual base pay for this role is between USD $151,390 and $195,916.. Please note that this position’s salary range may include multiple levels. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
